Trauma

The first step in telling your story is to acknowledge your truth.

YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL.

Individual trauma can result from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening and that has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functional and impacts mental, physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.

Trauma crosses racial and social economic status.

Trauma can affect everyone.

Trauma is never talked about using language that all people understand. When you grow up in urban communities, you don’t use the word “trauma.” Here is an excerpt from LaLisa's book, Surviving the Chaos: A Journey to Healing and Legacy Living of a few of the ways trauma can be talked about:

Johnny touching little kids. They said his uncle touched him.

  • Joker put in some work for the hood (killed the gang enemies).
  • The homies Jerome and Batman got shot at. Jerome got smoked (killed). Batman got shot but now has a bullet in his back.
  • Myisha got her kids taken. Her man was selling drugs in her house.
  • Tim got on the bus and didn’t pay.
  • Yvette is on the track (or the blade) to get her dough. (prostitution)
  • Susan embezzled from her job. She was trying to feed her family.

Families don't talk about the pain. We are largely taught to keep it a secret.

SILENT NO MORE!!

You can now schedule an appointment to talk about your truth and take the steps to heal. It's your journey. The time is NOW.
